LAAA Announces 2008 Annual Benefit Auction

In association with co-chairs Shelley Reid and Susan Woods, the 2008 Annual Benefit Auction features over 100 works by emerging, mid-career and established artists.

Event date:
Saturday, August 2, 2008, 6:30 to 9p

All proceeds benefit LAAA and Los Angeles' emerging artist community. Los Angeles Art Association, a nationally recognized 83 year old non-profit art organization, will host its annual fundraising auction on August 2nd. The auction, widely embraced by the art community and leading collectors as a showcase of emerging art trends, will feature works by over 100 emerging, mid-career and established artists including Quinton Bemiller, Meeson Pae Yang and James Martin Thegerstrom.

Over 200 of LA's most influential movers and shakers are expected to attend the exclusive VIP preview featuring food by NOBU and spirits provided by Patron. LAAA Executive Director Peter Mays states "As we are considered by Los Angeles' leading art galleries to be a feeder to the gallery scene, our auction is a great place to discover emerging talent while they are still very affordable to a broad base of collectors. Our auction showcases new works by current and former artist members and nationally respected luminaries including Lita Albuquerque and Kim Abeles".

The Champagne VIP Preview, from 6 to 7pm, includes food by NOBU and exclusive access to auction items. The event continues for general admission guests from 7 to 9:30pm, with the live auction starting promptly at 7:30pm by Andrea Fiuczynski, Christie's Los Angeles President.
