Portfolio Artist Statement Online Information ![]() Untitled 201 ![]() Untitled 200 Clementine Observes the Moon Recently a renewed interest in space exploration combined with a desire to explore Surrealism. I'd been looking for a new direction for the drawings with a view to combining disparate personal interests and concepts. What percolated to the surface were images of sea mammals, as well as moonscapes and solar flares sent from outer space by a tiny spaceship scientists had named Clementine. Those images converged and collided in a weightless dance in my head and soon onto drawings on wood panel.
These new drawings present an opportunity to combine detailed Prismacolor drawing with painted color abstractions. At this moment my interest is also in stretching the imagery in the drawings and expanding the dialog between the images in a new-to-me surreality. |
