Portfolio Artist Statement Online Information       I paint because I enjoy the satisfaction and process of using paint to create new worlds. By painting, I make sense of ideas and feelings that are weighing on my mind. I use color, imagery, and composition to convey specific feelings and ideas in a way that is thought provoking, alluring and surrealistic. As I paint, I am mindful of how the colors interact with each other and the moods they evoke. I may change colors as I work to shift their balance and change the arrangement of shapes to make the piece more dynamic. Acrylic paint allows fast change of color and a way to blend paint that I like.
Currently I am exploring depression and instability in the human mind. I aim to illuminate aspects of the struggle between the destructive, depressive side and the constructive, hopeful side in an engaging and amusing way. |
