Artist Statement











My art is the scaled visual equivalent of the unfurled Greenpeace banner; it is the arms that lock in unity in Harbor Gateway. I create my art for the same reason the marcher prepares his sign for a rally; it is my bullhorn that gives voice to (the) me(ek).

Material selection serves an important role in my art for conveying my ideas. Cobalt blue is no substitute for yellow ochre, and so it goes with mixed-media work. Use of wood allows me to refine the craftsmanship while informing the viewer of the importance of organics in an inorganic world, and employment of diverse materials is simply a microcosmic reflection of our society at large. Intimately co-mingled, inextricably entwined.
