In 1991 my father gave me my first camera, the same camera my grandfather gave to my father. My grandfather ran a pawnshop and purchased the Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic from a military man. The man was stationed oversees and bought the camera at a PX military store. To avoid paying taxes when bringing the camera to America he had scratched off the Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic logo.

Similar to the story encompassed in this camera, my work focuses on what others leave behind. I document the evidence of others as a way to address the issues we our faced with today. Some of the contemporary issues I have explored in my work include permanent school closures, religious piety and the contamination of our food sources. I hope that my images offer my viewers an opportunity to contemplate the world we live in.
