Portfolio Artist Statement Online Information ![]() Memory ![]() Myth An image in nature will inspire me. It could be a landscape, colors, or light. Then I abstract that image in a style developed over the last 5 years. I paint with dots and drips of paint created with squeeze bottles. In a few paintings, like "Memory" a round wooden chopstick was used to make my mark. While experimenting with this technique, I have found it can lead to new ideas such as the long drips in "Myth", and which could not have been created with a brush (see photo). Another important part of my process is choice of color palette. The complicated color patterns add depth and structure to the work.
My paintings refer to nature but are obviously open to the interpretation. It is my intention that some see pure abstraction and others see landscapes. I plan to keep working and developing this series, moving to a larger scale. |
