Portfolio Artist Statement Online Information ![]() A.U.M. (Assets Under Management) No. 1, detail, 2009 Cyanotype photogram on canvas, 60 lbs. of beans, 50" x 96" ![]() Madonna Layers No. 2, 2009 2 plate etching, 18" x 24" My art relies heavily upon my personal experiences. I report back on what I have learned, observed, or survived and propose new lines of thinking. I like to find the wonderful in the mundane, reveal something new from what appears to be nothing, or offer an unexpected perspective on institutions or traditions.
As much as I like new ideas and the onset of new technologies, I surround myself with things that are old. I have a great appreciation for objects that are classicÐwell crafted, and built to last. I also find beauty in deterioration and wear. I am not bound to any particular medium, yet it's no wonder that I am passionate about historic printmaking and alternative photo processes. They are prevalent in my work. |
