The aim is to initiate discussion rather than make a definitive statement. My job as an artist is to help open a pathway to contemplation and emotion. By drawing upon my intellectually diverse background to create each series, the work's inspiration comes from an observation of social interaction and an examination into the psychology behind the events I am exploring.
A strict methodology including material investigation, sketching, writing, photography and discussion initiates the process. After establishing the scope of the project through those means, I move on to creation. Process is important to me as I immerse myself in the idea, followed by material, and finally the realization. |
