Without hesitation I said, "Dreaming." I could never get enough of the technicolor movies that inhabited my subconscious mind. Since then, I have had dreams in which I fly, die, and see colors that don't exist outside my mind's eye. Of course this makes me ask myself, "What is my reality? Is it what I see with my eyes, or is it what I dream about with my mind's eye?" My photographs attempt to codify my dreams. They integrate and blur the lines between waking and dreaming, life and death. I create work inspired by my dreams. I explore, combine and create dreamscapes that have their genesis both in the physical world and in my mind's eye. I enjoy altering reality just enough to open a window into the viewer's imagination and reveal a photographic alpha state.
My photographic process involves both in-camera capture and post-processing tools, such
as Photoshop and Nik Software. There are two stages to my work. First, I make an image
with the camera. Then, I bring that image into the computer where I blend textures,
overlays and other images together to create the final piece. I print with pigment-based
inks on Hahnemuhle rag papers. |
