Having worked as a landscape architect, I have developed a preternatural ability to detect slight changes in plants, flowers and other natural elements within urban areas. I have found slight but troubling mutations in these living objects, which I believe are threatened by continued, uncontrolled development. I use the term "Urban Rainforest" to describe the impetus for my work, as I use the rigidity of human architecture to further illustrate these abstract, but ever-present changes in terrain.

Each project begins with a flood of inspiration that becomes fervent, often lasting a month or more. Using cool, muted shades and shocking blocks of color, I attempt to construct an emotional response to a particular place and moment. Many of my pieces display a dark, repellent void, which often represents a part of the natural world that I believe is damaged beyond repair.
