Alex Zohar is an LA based artist who graduated from the University of Michigan in 2009.
Most of his work consists of crudely made watercolors on paper - a medium with a child-like irreverence, but dealing with adult level subject matter. In many of these pieces he is looking at the intersection of growing up and the transition into adulthood, while striving to preserve a youthful creativity and curiosity towards daily life - something that is often diminished (or forgotten) as we proceed into adulthood.
A common theme in many of his paintings is the use of oftentimes lowbrow and kitsch imagery. This is done purposefully, working to balance out the weight of the ideas explored in the subject matter with humor in their depictions.
