Artist Statement
Alycia Shiann is a 24-year-old acrylic painter and colored pencil artist from Long Beach, CA. Alycia has been painting and drawing for 8 years and began a full-time artistic career in August 2023. Alycia Shiann attended California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in May 2023. Alycia’s primary reason for creating is to allow her voice to be heard. Throughout her life, Alycia has found it difficult to convey her emotions and thoughts verbally to others for fear of not being understood. With art, Alycia feels validated on her experiences and can thoroughly express her thoughts and emotions. She aims to be a voice for those who have dealt with the same experiences as her and thrives on the idea that everybody deserves to live a beautiful life. Alycia loves to incorporate vibrant colors, flora and fauna elements, and surrealism into her artwork.
