Artist Statement

I am a Newport Beach-based abstract artist specializing in mixed media. I draw inspiration from every aspect of life, from drives along the coast to family celebrations to the grand sprawl of Los Angeles. My muse, like my art, is ever changing. Beginning with a general layout, I employ layers of texture and acrylic glaze to create an intricate design. This process of layering is a lengthy and critical one that allows me to visualize the mesmerizing color schemes and unique pattern work that has come to define my style. I earned my Master of Science in Architecture (M. Arch.) from Columbia University in New York City, after receiving my Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Architecture, from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. My relationship with the fine arts has evolved over the years but my structural roots always shine through.
