Artist Statement

My work centers on intimate, everyday moments—figures absorbed in their own interior worlds, where subtle shifts in posture, attention, and distance reveal the complexities of human connection. Working primarily from observation, memory, and personal experience, I paint people closest to me because familiarity allows for sustained looking and the accumulation of meaning over time.

Rather than illustrating specific narratives, I am interested in how atmosphere, spatial tension, and what is withheld can shape emotional experience. Through layered surfaces and restrained compositions, I create images that remain open to interpretation, where memory, identity, and relationships emerge gradually through ambiguity and quiet presence.
