Artist Statement

I believe that photography is the best medium for my artistic work because it gives me the most creative freedom. Most of my photographic images are influenced by my love of travel, art and architecture, something that was nurtured throughout my youth and adulthood. My childhood goal to be an architect was derailed by life circumstances, but my love and interest in architecture continued throughout my life. In 2011 photography became my medium to express this passion, despite my profession as a psychotherapist.

My creative process started every time I am drawn to a certain scene, event or object. Almost every image I took involved a building or a structure as the main object or background. This is consistent to my interest in architecture and how humanity interact with their environment, particularly the surrounding structures and buildings. Aesthetics will always be a factor during the first few seconds of selecting an image, followed by other factors, such as the relationships between lighting and structures or angles and environment. A final photograph would eventually emerge from this process as the expression of my creative interpretation of that image with the hope of inspiring the viewing public.
