Artist Statement

Marc is a Los Angeles based artist known for his ‘jazz-like improvisations on canvas’. Influenced by the New York School of the 1940s and 50s, Marc has refined his action painting technique over the years to arrive at his own style. His colorful, rhythmic, and dynamic abstract paintings are the outward expression of his inner landscape and feature multiple layers of curvilinear swirls, splatters, and drips that advance and recede in what feels like a game of hide-and-seek.

As both the source and subject of his art, Marc is motivated by the pursuit of his true self and prefers to look inward for inspiration, yet he is often inspired by beauty wherever he finds it, whether in nature, art, music, love, or humanity.

Marc paints primarily out of his studio in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood, and he has a second studio in the arts district of San Pedro. He shows his work out of Artspace Warehouse in Los Angeles, and his paintings are held in private collections worldwide.
