I went through several stages, having completed my PhD in Visual Art, on the geometry of space in painting; I painted architectural spaces, interiors, and gradually turned to the human figure for inspiration. Art reflects my passions and allows complete freedom of expression.
The paintings I’m working on now, female and male nudes, mean to capture the beauty of the naked body and they are symbolic figures that bring emotion and drama. Man doesn’t need clothes to cover the body, because “the body is dressed in its own virtues”. My nudes have a sculptural monumentality; some of the paintings are over-life-sized. Woman is seen in a natural and somewhat vulnerable way. My paintings oscillate between sensuality and vulnerability.
My Neo-Mythology paintings are devoted to creating a contemporary interpretation of timeless myths. They incorporate memories of the things I have seen and I admire, among them ancient deities and symbolic sculptural figures.
