Mike Collins is a painter, psychologist, activist and gallery owner who stays bunkered down on the Southside of Hermosa Beach, California. Recently, he was informed that he was an “outsider.” This is something that has felt true his entire life. And so in art as it is with everything else, he is happy to be an outsider, untrained, and free to dig deep into any mistake that might lead to what happens next. When asked about current inspiration Collins says, “I’m really not sure what side of the cage I’m living on any more, but one way or another, I’m going to burn this thing to the ground.”
This year, Collins work has been featured in The Billboard Creative, Beyond the Lines Gallery, BG Gallery, CA101, and as part of the opening show, “Break The System,” at ShockBoxx in Hermosa Beach, California.
