I like to listen. Especially when some thing is speaking to me. Of course, in this context, I’m referring to materials that want to be made into art. This all started with my grandmother, who would take us for walks and collect various branches and rocks (and anything else that ‘spoke’ to her) to be turned into art afterwards. It opened up the idea that art-or the potential for it-was all around and could be made out of just about anything, and at any time. It helps if you’re open to it and listening.
I strive for a light aesthetic with an emphasis on transparency and color—pulling from the sublime in nature; bringing an elemental and ethereal, but playful energy into my work.
